Slovakia's tiny size and rocky geography, with about 80% of the country 720 meters above sea level, are among its most appealing features.

Slovakia now has 20 public universities, ten private universities, and three state institutions and colleges. The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU), which is located in the city of Bratislava, is Slovakia's largest and most important university of technology, as well as one of the country's top academic institutions.

Slovakia's cost of living is lower than those of its western neighbors. As a result, Slovakia has become a desirable destination for international students.

How much does it cost to study in Slovakia?
For bachelor studies, non-EU international students should expect to spend somewhere between $550 and $5,500 each year. Graduate school tuition is significantly higher, ranging from $2,200 to $5,500 per year.

Students may be found in a variety of cities. The main cities are Bratislava, Nistra, and Kosice. In Slovakia, the average basic cost of living is between 600 and 700 euros.

What are the criteria for studying in a Slovakian university?
Applicants for a bachelor's degree must provide a certificate of secondary education (GCE AL with passes in all subjects). Applicants may also be needed to take an admission exam and participate in interviews.

To be admitted to post-graduate courses, overseas candidates must have completed a bachelor degree (or a Master's degree for Ph.D. applicants).

Is the IELTS exam necessary in Slovakia?

Yes. It is necessary to have a certificate from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

When are the university intakes?

In general, there are two main application periods: Summer(February) and Winter(September) intake.

How many hours may an international student work in Slovakia throughout their studies?
Fortunately, your residency permit allows you to work up to twenty hours each week while attending classes. However, keep in mind that finding job outside of big towns like Bratislava and Kosice might be tough if you don't know Slovak.

 In Slovakia, how long does a post-study work permit last?
Students who finished their university education in Slovakia (full degree studies) can apply for a renewal of their temporary residency after completing their studies in order to find work or establish a company. It can be extended for another 9 months in this situation. After you have a job, you'll need to apply for a work or business residency permit.
